Forgiveness

Self acceptance is something that I work towards on a daily basis. Self criticism remains alive and kicking in my mind. I find the meditation app ‘Waking up’ to be very helpful in this regard. One of the features on the app is a daily quote. There is one from the writer Maya Angelou. ‘It’s one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself, to forgive. Forgive everybody’. It seems to me that forgiveness of oneself and others is central to the notion of a peaceful mind.

The past two years have been a learning experience. Increasing forgiveness and understanding, and lessening the anger are the main lessons that I feel I need to learn.

Happy Christmas.

  1. Morning Peter,

It’s apt that your email appeared today on “Non Name Day” the day of reflection and self care.

I think we are constantly trying to allow ourselves to be able to forgive as we age. Sometimes it comes after a significant event and sometimes it just waits until one is ready.

The human person is in an ongoing development which I firmly believe never stops but it can be hard, difficult, fun and sometimes ottally unexpected.

Wishing you a very happy christmas.

    1. Hi Noilin,
Many thanks for your kind and wise words.
That’s a coincidence about the day of reflection and self care, there must something in the air.
Yes,forgiveness would appear to be a lifelong challenge, particularly of one’s self. Mams passing certainly seems to have had a significant impact on me and has made me reflect on myself quite a lot.
Thanks also for your continued interest and support, have a lovely Christmas.
      Regards,
      Peter
