Word had reached My Good Self that the good folk of South King Street were clamouring for the return of their favourite busking classical guitarist. What was I to do? There was simply no choice.
And so it came to pass that I dusted off my amp last Saturday, stuck it in my rucksack, grabbed the six stringed friend, headed off to Grafton Street, hung a sharp right at the Bus Stop shop and proceeded to plonk my beloved backside down on one of the lovely stone benches outside the Gaiety Theatre. It was good to be back.
I kicked off with a few pieces and was happily sailing along half expecting to draw a blank. But then the musical Red Sea parted before my very eyes and ears. I was getting into my own particular take on The Beatles tune ‘Yesterday’. I heard a male voice say as follows ; ‘There you are’. I looked down at my guitar case anticipating the sight of a coin or two. But no coins were to be seen. And then I noticed a piece of paper standing up. It turned out to be a ten euro note.
It was most definitely good to be back.
