A slightly different ski week, part two

Monday morning saw My Good Self and The Tour Operator head for the beautiful town of Zell am see. Set beside a large lake Zell is always a pleasure to visit.

Taking a train from Schwarzach we arrived into Zell after about 40 minutes. The train station is situated beside the lake and so the first port of call was a very pleasant waterside stroll. Next up was a coffee and we happened upon a very nice cafe after going slightly astray from our intended route. After getting back on track we popped into an old haunt of mine, the Hotel Gruner Baum, only to find that their bar was not yet open for the day. Not to be deterred in our search for liquid refreshment we battled our way bravely into the very impressive Grand Hotel for a wee bit of cocktail sampling. Somebody has to do it. All that remained was to pick up a small souvenir pressie and we were soon on our way back to base.

It had been a good day..

  1. The Old Boys are in Zell at the moment – Adrian, Nige, Mark, Malcolm and Alastair! But maybe you knew that?
