So there I was, stood at the corner of Bachelor’s Walk and Liffey Street, across from the Woollen Mills, looking to make my way onto Ormond Quay, en route to The Great Institution of Chatham Street. There was a car stopped in front of me, waiting it’s turn to take a left onto the quays. I felt it was safe to cross but I raised my cane out in front of me for a little protection just in case there was some unexpected movement from my four wheeled friend. Just as I stepped onto the road. I felt my cane hit something metal. After a few seconds of shock I turned around to see a cyclist who had seemingly decided to pedal his way up onto the path just a I was leaving it.
I looked at him. He looke at me. War was declared. Gunfight at the Bachelors Walk Corral. I looked down at my cane and asked of my attacker did he know what it was. He replied that he did indeed know what it was. I pointed to the path and asked him did he know what that was. Again he replied tha he was aware that he was on a path. My attacker appeared to be a very knowledgeable person in some respects. I concluded our short discussion as follows….’and you don’t give a f**k’.
He didn’t reply.
