Practice brings comfort

I’ve been getting to know a little more of late about a thing called stoicism, and am currently listening to an audiobook on the subject entitled ‘A guide to the good life’.

Stoicism is an ancient Greek and Roman philosophy of life which is full of practical strategies for dealing with the ups and downs of daily existence. One such strategy is to regularly do something that is uncomfortable with a view to being able to deal better with discomfort when it happens to spring up out of the turquoise.

I have decided to apply this strategy to my diminishing eyesight and have recently been doing a few more things in darkness than had previously been the case. So far so good, I can now successfully make it out of my apartment complex without sight.

Its not much but it’s a start. Rome and Athens were not built in a fortnight.
