Off to the Kingdom, part two.

The first morning of my epic odyssey to Kerry kicked off with breakfast in the hotel conference room. Given that it’s location is just a little more than a few metres from the reception area I was very happy to receive a helping hand to my table.

The breakfast itself was all very tasty and the service was of the top drawer variety, although I am not convinced that the chef has had to deal with too many requests for eggs benedict.

After being pleasantly escorted back to my room by a good Antrim native and engaging in a wee bit of practice on the six stringed friend it was soon time to hook up with The Diligent Drumcondra Man and His Good Lady.

A lovely mug of tea in their rented cottage was then followed by a very pleasant wander along the original road/track which runs from Killarney to Kenmare. A few chats en route with fellow strollers, a very appetising half time picnic and Bob was still my uncle with Martha hanging in there as my aunt. It was all good. On returning to the car park it emerged that we had travelled a total of 13,129 steps and 7.8 kilometres. A mini marathon for my humble legs.

After a wee bit of freshening up back at the hotel it was soon time to hit the bright lights of Killarney central for a very tasty few bits of Thai nosh, helped along by some of the old reliable grape juice. A nice after dinner stroll back to the Great Southern concluded the days proceedings. I bade adieu to my friends and thanked them for a lovely day.

All was well.
