Enniskerry

I was on the blower to The Diligent Drumcondra Man yesterday, talking chess, guitar and what not, and he was telling me he had been out for a wee two wheeled spin to Enniskerry and that the village had been transformed for the upcoming Disney movie, ‘Disenchanted’.

Time to check it out.

The number 44 bus from O’Connell Street provided my chauffeured transport to Wicklow and I was off. Heading out through Ranelagh, Milltown, Dundrum Sandyford and Kilternan, the journey took around 75 minutes.

On arrival my stomach informed me that a spot of nosh would be the first port of call. One of the film crew ably assisted me to a nearby cafe where I had the great honour of being served by the Queen of Oz herself. A turkey roll, an americano, a seat outside and Bob was my uncle and Martha my aunt.

On then for a wee wander which had its little challenges given that I was effectively in the middle of a construction site. Shopfronts have been made over and there is a positive buzz in the air, which makes a pleasant change from disease filled air.

Short stroll completed, I returned to my new chauffeur for a return trip to The Ranch.

My adventure was complete.

  1. Should have gone to say hello to my parents who are both in the C of I churchyard up the hill. The 44 bus is a regular beat for moi armed with a trowel and a bag of bulbs on the way out and a trowel and a ton of mud on the way back. It’s a lovely spot!
