A new dream

I love words and I love music so why not try and put them together? The Belgian Boy has suggested to me on a few occasions the idea of writing a song so I think it’s time to give it a lash, Jack. I haven’t the foggiest about songwriting but I have learned a few guitar chords so how hard can it be?

Meanwhile it’s a gloriously warm and windy day here in the fair city, as strains of Sade’s ‘Smooth operator’ have been wafting in from a neighbouring apartment. Out strolling earlier there were enough people and cars about to give some semblance of a return to something.

In the sporting world it would appear that competition has broken out in the world of Formula One motor racing. In recent times the very admirable Lewis Hamilton has been top dog and although he did win yesterday’s opening Grand Prix in Bahrain, his main rival Max Verstappen was unlucky not to take the spoils. It all augurs well for the remaining races.

Tomorrow evening The Boys In Green return to the football field to take on Qatar in a friendly international, with manager Stephen Kenny under the spotlight following the recent loss to Luxembourg. Football management is a notoriously fickle business but now is certainly not the time for a head to roll. Stephen Kenny is the right man for the job.

Someone whose head is in no danger of rolling anywhere is that of England manager Gareth Southgate. Currently blessed with an abundance of talent, things are looking good for The Auld Enemy.

And so this is how the Denby mug of Barry’s tea is going down this lovely Spring afternoon..

A bientot mes amis.
