City Planning

The layout of Dublin.

For the most part, the good folk responsible for the wellbeing of our capital city have done an excellent job.

New buildings tend to fit in nicely with their surroundings, and in terms of pedestrian crossings, Dublin is one of the best served cities in the world, if not the leader in this field.

However.

Isn’t there always a ‘however’ or a ‘but’?

That lamppost at the corner of Summerhill Parade and North William Street.

Yes, that one.

I mean to say.

Although I have had no further disagreement with this particularly odious piece of metal, My Good Self is firmly of the belief that the City Planners erred in gargantuan-like proportions when it came to the precise positioning of this unseemly monstrosity.

In short, my left kneecap, although fully recovered in physical terms, remains deeply scarred and traumatised by recent events at this junction.

Moving along to the world of football, The Boys From Anfield are back in form, with The Red Devil’s suffering a shock defeat.

The fickleness of the beautiful game.

In the land of chess my rating has somehow crept up to 1432.

It seems there is life yet in the world of a certain wine guzzling, chess playing, classical guitarist.

And so that’s how it all looks this mild, Friday afternoon.

The M&S weekend supplies have been acquired.

It’s all good.

A bientot mes amis.
