Finding a flow

Listening back to my ground breaking recording of ‘Greensleeves’, there were several things that pleased me.

Notes, timing and speed were all mostly good, to my ear at least, however my playing seemed to lack ‘flow’.

The notes were not melting into one another, so to speak.

And so this is the next goal in my classical guitar journey.

To attain flow.

I’m on it.

Progress on Pachelbel’s ‘Canon in D‘ continues to be of the slow and steady variety. Bar 17 is being looked at. It’s an interesting arrangement, divided into 12 variations on the theme of the key of D.

Sounds almost like I know what I’m talking about.

Work continues apace on bringing my other pieces up to speck..‘Cavatina’ receives most attention however I have not yet progressed beyond a rate of 50% of my target speed.

‘Jesu, joy of mans desiring’ is hot favourite to be the next single to be released.

I hope to have the full album completed sometime before I pop my clogs.

Over in the world of chess, it’s nip and tuck with The King of Headfort. Gone are the days when victory in these clashes was a regular gig. The King has pulled up his socks. My Good Self must be on his toes.

Accordingly the daily wine intake has been drastically reduced to four bottles.

No messing around here.

It’s looking good against The Italian Babe and all very interesting with The Prince of Pinner who has a slight material advantage entering the endgame.

My Good Self is not yet done for here.

Over in the real world the numbers are rising and the lockdowns are rife.

It’s enough to drive an aspiring classical guitarist to drink.

Now there’s a thought.

At least we here in The Emerald Isle don’t have to endure Boris.

Phew.

  1. Can’t wait for the first Gig!
In the meantime, have you seen The Queen’s Gambit – it has renewed an interest in chess in my not-so-young-anymore son!
