Talbot Street

Walking down North Earl Street and crossing the recently installed LUAS line on Marlborough Street I find myself on Talbot Street.

A street with a reputation for bargains and value for money shops, it is most likely for this precise reason that I am not as knowledgeable as I might be on this particular thoroughfare.

My Good Self and bargains have not always gone hand in hand. I am far more likely to be seen wandering around Jervis Shopping Centre than I am Talbot Street.

Be that as it may I begin my stroll down the northside of the street passing a mixed bag of shops from tattoo artist to butchers as I go, before crossing Gardiner Street where I am reminded of the old Educational Company of Ireland shop where many a school book was purchased in my younger days.

Murray’s Medical Equipment and Pharmacy are the current occupants of this premises.

Moving along I pass the updated version of Independent House, relocated from Middle Abbey St.

Arriving at the eastern end of the street I find myself facing Connolly Station and so cross over and double back towards O’Connell Street.

Crossing Store Street and again Gardiner Street, I pass Guineys and the Irish Life Centre before arriving at the 101 Talbot, probably the best eatery on Talbot Street.

And soon I am back on Marlborough Street with the feeling that I have looked at Talbot Street from both sides now, and my conclusion is that I really don’t know Talbot Street at all.

  1. I would have thought Le Bon Crubeen was the best eatery on Talbot Street. Though I confess I have not eaten in 101 Talbot.
