So which country is dealing with COVID-19 the best?
There are different strategies being employed all around the world.
My Good Self has been impressed with Leo and the lads. A gradual path to lockdown with an excellent address to the nation by Leo on Paddy’s Night.
I remain highly sceptical of the ‘herd immunity’ approach taken by Boris and his boys. I fear for London in particular on account of the heavy use of the tube at a time when it seemed wiser to shut it down.
Mr. Trump is remarkable in that his poor handling of events does not appear to have affected his approval ratings. He really is the great polariser/divider of people. His supporters seem to stay with him regardless of his handling of the crisis. His detractors become more angry and exasperated.
No surprise that Asian countries such as Taiwan and South Korea lead the way on account of their experience with SARS.
A big surprise is Japan who are not testing nearly as much as other countries. Fear that their health system will be overrun with a more rigorous testing regime appears to be the reason.
Dangerous.
Sweden appear to be carrying on without lockdown. Scientists there are divided on the approach.
Belarus and Nicaragua are still playing football matches.
There is only one thing that is really clear.
And that is that there are still so many unknowns.
