Miracles do happen

My Good Self had somehow stumbled upon an establishment that was still serving the black stuff.

In my humble mind, there was just no question about it.

It was a miracle.

Yesterday morning had kicked off at 5.30 with Shay Byrne doing his thing on RTE Radio One’s ‘Rising Time’.

The standard morning rituals were duly observed and come 7 bells it was over to Marty Whelan on Lyric fm.

When Marty waved goodbye to the nation three hours later, My Good Self heard the call of Clontarf.

In no time at all I was by the sea and untangling the headphones.

Andrea Bocelli was the man chosen to keep me company.

Wandering along towards the wooden bridge who did I happen upon only My Clarinet And Harmonica Mate, The Current Woman In His Life and the Senior and Junior Princesses of Artane.

It was good to see them again.

Further on and crossing over the causeway road which divides Bull Island, the podcast ‘This American Life’ took over from the Italian tenor.

The current episode of ‘This American Life’ is entitled ‘The show of delights’, focussing on the more positive aspects of the universe. It was a welcome riposte to current events.

Soon I had arrived at my destination.

My new home from home.

The Marine Hotel, Sutton Cross.

Two pints of the black stuff and the ham salad sandwich on brown bread were happily consumed.

Life was good.
