Those Spherical Objects

From time to time, whenever the blue moon shines, My Good Self takes a wander up through Stephens Green, out onto and up Leeson Street before hanging a gentle right into Adelaide Road in order to arrive at a place known as the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital, with a view to getting an update on proceedings regarding The Two Spherical Objects On Either Side Of The Nose.

I am in full possession of a nuisance condition which goes by the rather ungainly name of choroideremia.

I know, a mouthful.

Basically this amounts to a gradual closing in of day vision, alongside ongoing poor night vision.

As previously stated, it’s a nuisance.

The current situation is that I have a small pocket of good quality central day vision remaining.

I can still clearly make out Mo Salah doing his thing for The Boys From Anfield.

I have no problems with pints of the black stuff.

I know a hot babe when I see one.

It’s not all bad.

Having said all that, it is quite possible that the lights will one day go out completely.

At least the electricity bill will come down.

And so it came to pass, of a beautiful, crisp Wednesday morning, that I rocked up to see, in a manner of speaking, what the current situation was.

First up were a series of tests and a most pleasant catch up with The Queen of the Spherical Objects.

She was in fine form.

Shortly afterwards The God of the Spherical Objects (TG of the SO) wandered in. More tests and photos followed.

A feedback chat with TG of the SO followed. It emerged that there was no significant deterioration since my last visit a year ago and that there were no other side issues going on.

Party time.

TG of the SO also updated My Good Self on the research situation for my condition.

Significant progress has been made.

The treatment train is on its way.

But will it arrive before the lights go out?

Only time will tell.
