A Ton Up

Todays post marks the one hundredth in my humble blogging career.

A milestone of sorts.

My Good Self started writing this blog in August of this year, on the suggestion of my good friend,The Guinness Pensioner.

I am very grateful to her.

The human brain is quite a complex organ. It needs to be exercised in a variety of ways in order for it to remain healthy.

Writing this blog allows me to exercise a part of my brain that would otherwise lay dormant.

It’s all good.

Every writer needs an audience so I would like to take this opportunity to thank you, the reader. Without you I would not write.

I would also like to thank my iPhone, a modern gadget that I resisted for many years, hanging on to my old Nokia for dear life.

Whatever happened to Nokia?

These days I can’t imagine life without my iPhone. It’s a device which makes writing the blog a relatively simple affair.

Assuming the ideas and words come forth.

So far they have.

I never really know where the blog is going. It seems to have a life of its own. I have experimented with a variety of voices and styles, some of which have caused a few ripples. I would describe my current writing voice as that of a privileged individual who allows an occasional drop or two of alcohol to pass his lips.

Throw in a few musical instruments, some skis, a chess board, The Phoenix Park and that’s pretty much who I am.

I am not quite sure how long I will keep the blog going. Many times I have thought that my ideas have dried up but then another one comes along.

A bit like buses.

So that’s the first hundred done and dusted.

Here’s to the second.
