Returning home, part three

The hay in Wexford was even more comfortable than the hay in Swansea.

My Good Self was sorely tempted to stay on and buy Whites Hotel there and then, however once again I had to remind myself of my higher calling in life.

Chatham Street.

I would return home on this day.

First, a little exploring of Wexford Town.

Following a most pleasant breakfast in Whites, it’s off for a little wander around the locality. My good friend Sharon had jotted down a few places to go and things to see.

When in Wexford, do as yellow bellies do.

The first thing to say about Wexford Town is that it is very easy to navigate. Whites Hotel is located just off the long Main Street, which is pedestrianised. The Opera House is just off Main Street, the train station at one end of it.

There is a nice Christmas atmosphere in the air. People are friendly and helpful, sometimes going out of their way to assist.

First port of call was the Arts Centre. A refreshing pot of tea, a bit of scribbling and then on to check out where the train station was. Next up was the rooftop cafe in the Opera House for a spot of lunch. A most appetising bowl of chowder and glass of Pinot Grigio. Final port of call before departure was The Undertakers Bar for a glass or two of the local life enhancing liquid.

Sharon had provided some excellent recommendations.

I will be returning to Wexford. The Opera Festival in October is world renowned. My Good Self is partial to a little opera.

The train journey back to The Fabulous Fair City was smooth and soon I was back in My Official Residence.

I had taken the long and winding road home.

It had been a very enjoyable road

    1. Yes it was, but it really was very nice. There were definite silver linings to the various clouds. Whites hotel and Wexford the highlight. I’m already booked into Whites for the Opera next October!
